A large Chinese Longquan celadon charger, late Ming dynasty, 1368-1644
Notes
An exceptionally large Longquan celadon charger, carved to the central well with a chequered pattern imitating woven cane or basketry, surrounded by incised decorative bands. The reverse carved with additional linear and textural ornament. Vessels of this scale are uncommon and demonstrate the technical achievement of Longquan kilns in producing large, evenly glazed celadon wares during the late Ming period.
