A Chinese blue and white porcelain diamond-shaped dish, 18th century
Notes
This diamond-shaped porcelain plate is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a continuous river landscape, featuring pagodas, rocky outcrops, trees and distant mountain peaks. The shaped rim and layered border panels reflect Western taste, while the landscape subject draws on traditional Chinese painted compositions symbolising harmony between nature and human presence.
