Notes
Part of the celebrated “Nanking Cargo” recovered from the wreck of the Dutch East Indiaman Geldermalsen, which sank in the South China Sea in 1751. Decorated with flying geese, a traditional symbol associated with fidelity, seasonal change and long-distance travel.
