A pair of Chinese export porcelain baluster vases and covers from the Vung Tau shipwreck, c.1690
Notes
Each vase is pencil-painted with stylised chrysanthemum, lotus and daisy sprays issuing from rockwork. The group forms part of the Vung Tau cargo, one of the most important documented Southeast Asian shipwreck assemblages of late 17th-century Chinese export porcelain.
Provenance
Recovered from the wreck of the Vung Tau.
