About this Item
Cape stinkwood and yellowwood inlaid corner display cupboard, 19th century
Notes
This corner cupboard is a good example of Cape country Neo-classicism. The uninterrupted straight lines, architectural design features, inlay and spade foot are all characteristic of this style period.
The inlaid spade foot, also known as a 'Riversdale' foot, is a regional feature used by carpenters on cupboards in the south western Cape district.
