Cape yellowwood and stinkwood inlaid cabinet-on-stand, South Africa,19th century
the moulded and outswept pediment above a pair of glazed panelled doors enclosing four shelves separated by an inlaid closing strip, two short frieze drawers below fitted with later brass escutcheons, raised on cabriole legs terminating in ball-and-claw feet, joined by an cross-stretcher centred by an oval cartouche.

Notes
This cabinet has a combination of characteristics from more than one Cape style period. The straight lines and form of the upper section are distinctly Neo-classical whereas the undercarriage with it's cross-stretcher and curved cabriole legs represents the Baroque period.
