Chinese carved and ebonised hardwood pedestal table, 19th century
the circular moulded top above a carved and pierced frieze, raised on cabriole legs united by an openwork foliate pierced shelf, terminating in outswept feet.
height: 57,5cm; width: 35,5cm; depth: 35,5cm

Notes

Stands such as these were traditionally used to display vessels, porcelain or bonsai. They were exported to Europe in large numbers during the late Qing dynasty, when oriental items became fashionable in interiors.
