About this Item
Pair of Chinese hardwood and marble side tables, 20th century
the square top inset with mottled marble above a carved apron, raised on square-section legs joined by a box-stretcher
(2)
height: 47cm; width: 49,5cm; depth: 49,5cm
Notes
This table is typical of late Qing to Republic period export furniture. The marble insert with 'dream-stone' veining symbolises natural beauty and harmony. The use of hongmu hardwood, prized for its deep red hue and fine grain, reflects the high level of craftmanship associated with the joinery workshops.
