Notes
From the 1950s, Chinese workshops produced screens for Western interiors. They were typically used as room dividers and brought a sense of 'Oriental elegance' to homes and hotels.
In Chinese decorative arts, the shallow fine-line carving into the lacquer surface is called 'incised lacquerwork'.
