Notes

This suite draws directly from the Regency interiors of early nineteenth-century England and represents the height of Georgian Neo-classical design, a period when ebonised furniture with gilt highlights was considered the height of modern taste. Revival examples such as this often follow pattern-book designs by George Smith, whose 1808 'Collection of Designs for Household Furniture' defined the style.
