About this Item
Notes
'Kruisvoet' translates literally to 'cross-foot', referring to the cross-stretcher base beneath the cabinet. This form is distinctly Dutch and helps differentiate these cabinets from English William & Mary or German equivalents.
Kruisvoet cabinets were made to store linen, silver, documents and valuables but were also a sign of wealth, taste and status.
The geometric venering cut from walnut imported via trade routes, reflects the Dutch taste for order, balance and precision.
