Cape copper pint measure, William Alcock, Port Elizabeth, late 19th century

Notes
William Alcock emigrated to the Cape in 1871 at the age of 21. He had been trained in England as a tinsmith and sheet metal worker and his first workshop produced cans for food manufacture. He was the first mayor of Port Elizabeth and was also the first person to own a motor car in the district.
