MULLINEUX SINGLE TERROIR | SINGULAR WINES FROM A PLACE OF ANCIENT SOILS | Mullineux SCHIST Syrah 2014, 2015, 2016:
The wines in the Single Terroir range truly encapsulate Mullineux's long-term goal of respecting and expressing the unique terroirs of the Swartland. These cuvees are only bottled in the vintages that we believe combine the most classic and consistent expressions of the Swartland with balance and class and they therefore also have phenomenal ageing potential.

The SCHIST Syrah is the most structured Syrah in our Single Terroir range. These very special and characterful grapes grown on the schisty slopes of Kasteelberg or “Castle Mountain”, showcase our estate, Roundstone and its tremendous ability to define Syrah grown on these rocky soils. This limits vine size and so the clusters and individual grapes in turn remain smaller with a higher skin to juice ratio, offering denser, more brooding tannins. The typical aromas on the SCHIST Syrah show beautiful hints of Bergamot orange, fragrant dark African violets and nutmeg and the palate is led by well-structured and harmonious, Schist-derived firm tannins with a pure freshness and superb concentration.
