David Sadie - David & Nadia Grenache Noir and Chenin Blanc 2021

David & Nadia Grenache Noir 2021:
Our 2021 Grenache noir vintage comprises five vineyards, including a core vineyard from Paardeberg and one from Kasteelberg. 60% was fermented and aged in concrete. The juice had four weeks of skin contact during fermentation and 60% whole bunches used. One punch down a day resulted in minimal and gentle extraction, after which the wine was aged for a year in old 500 litre neutral French oak barrels and a 2 700 litre concrete vessel.

David & Nadia Chenin Blanc 2021:
Our main Chenin blanc from Swartland is a blend of grapes from eight different Old Vine vineyards, ranging from plantings in 1968 to 1986. The wine is based on granite, shale/schist, clay-rich soils, and iron-rich soils from various parts of the region. Whole bunch pressed, naturally fermented, and matured for 11 months in old neutral French oak barrels, with two components fermented and aged in concrete (18% in total). This wine has a Certified Heritage Vineyards seal and forms part of the Old Vine Project, showcasing the region, its people, and its old vineyards, highlighting why Chenin Blanc is our main focus in Swartland.
