Adi Badenhorst - AA Badenhorst Family Wines - AA Red Blend 2015

This wine is made from small parcels of selected fruit sourced from different vineyards on the Kalmoesfontein farm and neighbouring vineyards. The 2015 vintage exceeded expectations in terms of quality and quantity, with lower yields of around 5 tons per hectare. The wine was made from Shiraz, Cinsault, Tinta Barocca, and Grenache grapes.

The grapes are meticulously sorted in the vineyard, cooled overnight, and then transferred to fermentation vessels. Natural fermentation is initiated through foot stomping, and the tanks are pigeaged twice daily. After six months of skin contact, the wine is pressed into used 4 000 litre casks for a 16-month maturation period. The wine has complex aromas of pepper, liquorice, perfume, and black cherries. The tannins are well-integrated, and the wine finishes with savoury and currant flavours.

This wine is packed in a wooden box.
