'The Pretoria-based magazine, Wurm, appeared shorty after the demise of Sestiger.
Wurm was initially and primarily an Afrikaans-language magazine, but this changed during the five years of its publication. Its first editor was PA de Waal Venter, then editor of the South African police journal and the son of a colonel in the security police (Phil du Plessis, p. 33). He had previously published poetry in Sestiger.
Five people began Wurm: Menno Steinvert, De Waal Venter, Dawid Botes, Peter Horn and Phil du Plessis. Three were medical students at Pretoria University and one was a civil servant. Peter Horn was a lecturer in German at UNISA. Many of the magazine's supporters and contributors were also students of medicine. The Wurm group of writers used to meet at the house of De Waal Venter ("Wallie') under the 'protection' of Father Bonaventure Hinwood, whose literary pseudonym was Hewitt Visser. As claimed previously by the writers associated with Sestiger, Phil du Plessis is explicit in retrospect that this group was neither a political nor a literary movement.'
'Many magazines included graphic as well as literary word. The finest instance of graphic work in Wurm is the signed screenprint by Walter Battiss 'Antinöus; in number 8, March 1968.'
