Notes
Hutch is the studio of Warren Turnbull, a designer, maker, and the sole hand behind every piece that leaves his workshop.
This table was part of The Tension Collection, shown at Decorex Cape Town 2026, where he won the 'Best Furniture' award. The name 'Imara' means firm and steadfast in Swahili, a fitting description for a piece built on tension between lightness and structure.
Warren has been working with wood since early childhood, but it took years of craft, experimentation and refinement for him to find the work he actually wanted to make. " I only make the things I genuinely believe in - pieces built at the intersection of refined modernism and sculptural craft, designed to last a lifetime and mean something to whoever inherits them"
He works predominantly in ash, white oak, African walnut, and wenge, combining traditional joinery with contemporary form. Every piece is handcrafted, signed, dated and numbered. There is no production line. There is a workshop, a maker and a finite number of pieces made each year.
