Literature
Félix Marcilhac (1994) René Lalique, 1860–1945: Maître-verrier, Analyse et Catalogue Raisonné de l’Œuvre de Verre, Paris, illustrated on page 442
Notes
Lalique was fascinated with aquatic life, and these motifs are a recurring theme in his designs.
In this vase, the two fish in mirrored opposition, reflect the Art Deco shift towards geometry and formal balance, while the close swirling arrangement evokes rhythm and movement in water.
Listed in the 1928 and 1932 catalogues. Withdrawn in 1937 and not re-issued post 1947.
