About this Item
Alión is Vega Sicilia's modern Ribera del Duero estate, a pure Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) made in a richer, more contemporary style than its illustrious sibling. 2014 was a very good Ribera del Duero vintage, stronger there than in Rioja. Luis Gutiérrez from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it a rating of 94, Josh Raynolds from Vinous gave it 92, and Thomas Matthews from Wine Spectator gave it 91.

"2014 is a better vintage in Ribera del Duero than in Rioja, and the 2014 Alión shows it. Sourced from 130 hectares of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) in Ribera del Duero and possibly the most modern of the Vega Sicilia Group wines, it's silky, voluptuous, jammy, ripe and generous without being too much.
