Born into an artistic family in Budapest on 2 April 1896, László Neogrády was immersed in creativity from a young age. He received his first art training from his father, Antal Neogrády (1861-1942), a well-known landscape painter. László Neogrády went on to study at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts under portraitist Ede Ballo (1859-1936). He later became an art teacher in his native Budapest, specialising in watercolour techniques. He simultaneously exhibited his own work, with a notable 1922 exhibition at the Hungarian Art Gallery.

Neogrády is best known for his naturalistic rustic landscapes: snow-covered forests, rural peasant scenes, riverbanks and streams recur constantly across his output. His work is generally classed with Impressionism, though it reads as fairly conservative, atmospheric naturalism rather than experimental. His work, particularly his subject matter and colour palette, closely echoes his father's. He made use of strong impasto and atmospheric effects to create a three-dimensional surface, a notable trait of the artist's work.

He died on 27 August 1962 in Budapest. Neogrády's artwork is held in the Iowa State University Museum in Ames and the National Museum of Hungary in Budapest, among other collections.
