About this Item

Vin de Constance 1999
1 (1 x 1) 500ml
Klein Constantia is the historic Constantia estate south of Cape Town, and Vin de Constance is its revival of the legendary eighteenth-century sweet Muscat de Frontignan once prized by Napoleon and the courts of Europe. Unfortified and naturally sweet, made from late-harvested, partly raisined Muscat and bottled in its distinctive flacon, it is South Africa's most celebrated dessert wine. The 1999 is now fully mature. Stephen Tanzer from Vinous gave it a rating of 93, and James Molesworth from Wine Spectator gave it a rating of 92.

Critics Ratings

"Viscous but lively in texture, this has layers of orange peel, maple, crème brûlée, green tea and quince paste flavors that stay tightly knit through the lengthy finish. An excellent dessert wine that is quietly putting together an enviable track record. Muscat de Frontignan." - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Nov 2004)

"Medium gold. Aromas of orange liqueur, clove and honey, with a whiff of sultana raisin. Very sweet and very spicy, with vibrant acidity giving the wine shape and grip. Impressively long, brisk, palate-staining finish. Exhilarating sweet wine." - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 93/100 (Mar 2005)
