Alain Hudelot-Noëllat

Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaumonts 2015

Burgundy International - Red
About the Session

Session 3 is devoted to red Burgundy, drawing together some of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Grower estates such as Armand Rousseau, Denis Mortet, Denis Bachelet, Georges Lignier and Ghislaine Barthod anchor a run of grand and premier cru Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Vosne-Romanée, while a extraordinary group of lots from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, including Échézeaux, Grands Échézeaux, Richebourg, La Tâche and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, forms the session's centrepiece. Rounded out by classic bottlings from Volnay, Pommard and Nuits-Saint-Georges, plus a scattering of Beaujolais crus, this session offers exceptional depth for Pinot Noir collectors.

About this Item

Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaumonts 2015
1 (1 x 1) 750ml
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat of Vougeot, run since 2008 by the gifted Charles van Canneyt, is one of the most admired classical estates of the Côte de Nuits. Les Beaux Monts is a Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru high on the slope, giving a mineral, structured and age-worthy wine. 2015 was an outstanding, warm and ripe Côte de Nuits vintage of rich, concentrated reds. Jancis Robinson MW gave it 16.5 out of 20, Stephen Tanzer from Vinous gave it a rating of 92, and Allen Meadows from Burghound.com gave it a rating of 92.

Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

For more detailed information on the lots, please feel free to contact Roland Peens (roland@briceandburnett.co.za). Roland spent many years sharing and enjoying these wines with David Brice and is happy to provide further insight into the collection.

Critics Ratings

"A tad stolid. Chestnuts and not much sweetness though no shortage of tannin. Wait for this!" - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Jan 2017)

"Good medium bright red. Much more fruity and expressive on the nose than the Petits Vougeot, offering aromas of redcurrant, raspberry and sexy oak spices. At once creamy, ripe and juicy in the mouth, conveying an easygoing sweetness to its concentrated flavors of raspberry, spices, chocolate and minerals. The tannins spread out horizontally to saturate the palate on the very long back end." - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92/100 (Nov 2017)

"This is spicier still with its slightly more deeply pitched nose of red and dark pinot fruit, violet, Asian tea and dried orange peel hints. There is much more minerality present on the vibrant and intense medium weight flavors that possess unusually good delineation for the vintage, all wrapped in a sappy, dusty and sneaky long finish. This is very classy juice and less marked by the vintage than the Vosne villages." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 92/100 (Jan 2018)
