Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes 2015

Burgundy International - Red
About the Session

Session 3 is devoted to red Burgundy, drawing together some of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Grower estates such as Armand Rousseau, Denis Mortet, Denis Bachelet, Georges Lignier and Ghislaine Barthod anchor a run of grand and premier cru Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Vosne-Romanée, while a extraordinary group of lots from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, including Échézeaux, Grands Échézeaux, Richebourg, La Tâche and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, forms the session's centrepiece. Rounded out by classic bottlings from Volnay, Pommard and Nuits-Saint-Georges, plus a scattering of Beaujolais crus, this session offers exceptional depth for Pinot Noir collectors.

About this Item

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes 2015
2 (1 x 2) 750ml
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat of Vougeot, run since 2008 by the gifted Charles van Canneyt, is one of the most admired classical estates of the Côte de Nuits. Les Charmes is a Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru giving a silky, perfumed and elegant wine. 2015 was an outstanding, warm and ripe Côte de Nuits vintage of rich, concentrated reds. Jancis Robinson MW gave it 17 out of 20 and Neal Martin from Vinous gave it a rating of 92, with Allen Meadows also reviewing it for Burghound.com.

Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

Critics Ratings

"Blueish crimson. Interesting ferny nose with some real charm indeed. Some sweet mushroom notes. All pleasure and surprisingly forward." - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jan 2017)

"The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru seems to lack the energy of its peers, though the nose is well defined and fresh, featuring light strawberry and morello cherry aromas mixed with undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and well-judged acidity. Good potential but it needs several more years in bottle." - Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100 (Sep 2018)

"This too is attractively fresh, bright and airy with its pretty nose that combines notes of lavender, violet, red cherry and subtle spice hints. The detailed and vibrant middle weight flavors possess a wonderfully silky mouth feel that also culminates in a tight and linear finish where a cherry pit character emerges. This is really quite lovely; indeed it's textbook Charmes." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (Jan 2017)
