About the Session

A fine selection of white Burgundy, spanning the full range of the region's great Chardonnay appellations - from the flinty, mineral wines of Chablis through to the richer, more textured expressions of the Côte de Beaune. Highlights include Grand Cru bottlings from Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, alongside benchmark Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet from names such as Roulot, Coche-Bizouard and Etienne Sauzet. Producers represented range from grower-estates to celebrated négociant houses, offering collectors an excellent cross-section of what white Burgundy does best.

About this Item

Chablis Les Preuses 2010
1 (1 x 1) 750ml
Domaine William Fèvre, founded in 1959 and the largest holder of Chablis Grand Cru, is one of the appellation's benchmark estates, its wines made since 1998 by Didier Séguier in a pure, precise style that favours older oak to let the Kimmeridgian terroir speak. Les Preuses is one of the seven Chablis Grands Crus, giving a rounded yet mineral, ageworthy wine. 2010 was a classic Chablis vintage of vivid freshness, depth and fine ageing potential. Julia Harding MW from JancisRobinson.com gave it 17.5 out of 20, Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it a rating of 97, and Kristaps Karklins from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it a rating of 94.

Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

For more detailed information on the lots, please feel free to contact Roland Peens (roland@briceandburnett.co.za). Roland spent many years sharing and enjoying these wines with David Brice and is happy to provide further insight into the collection.

Critics Ratings

"Intense if not expressive on the nose, a little herbal and stony. Very creamy texture but in balance with the freshness. Clear, determined citrus streak along with the classic mineral core, though the oak softens the minerality." - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Jan 2012)

"The 2010 Chablis Les Preuses combines the minerality of Valmur and the fruit of Bouguerots in a style that is immensely appealing. The wine's balance is utterly impeccable throughout. This is one of those effortless, gracious wines that is easy to underestimate because the elements are so seamlessly woven together that nothing in particular stands out. I am blown away by the sheer balance, purity and harmony of what is in the glass." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 97/100 (Aug 2012)

"The 2010 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses is showing well, offering aromas of citrus oil, fresh peach and oyster shell, mingled with notes of beeswax and mandarin and a subtle hint of smoke. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut and elegant, built around a crisp core of fruit and racy acidity that segues into a long, saline finish." - Kristaps Karklins, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 94/100 (Jan 2026)
