About this Item
Provenance
The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.
For more detailed information on the lots, please feel free to contact Roland Peens (roland@briceandburnett.co.za). Roland spent many years sharing and enjoying these wines with David Brice and is happy to provide further insight into the collection.
Critics Ratings
"Deep ruby. Rather light nose but with lots of rich fruit. Just a little dull. Does the business but without enormous flair." - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Jan 2012)
"Bright, dark red. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, mocha and cocoa. Dense, dry and sappy, with terrific intensity and inner-palate lift to the flavors of dark berries, black cherry, minerals and bitter chocolate. For all its concentration, this boasts outstanding finesse. Terrific tightly coiled wine with superb back-end perfume. The noble tannins are in perfect harmony with the wine's material." - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 93+/100 (Jan 2012)
"Very discreet wood sets off exuberantly spicy aromas of plum, cassis and black raspberry liqueur. There is an ultra-sophisticated mouth feel to the silky-textured medium-bodied flavors that are blessed with so much extract that they culminate in an incredibly suave yet balanced finish that is built to age." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91/100 (Apr 2013)
