Vigna Castel Ringberg Lagrein Riserva 2018

Elena Walch is a five-generation family estate in Alto Adige whose origins trace to 1869, and a leading force in the region’s quality revolution since Elena Walch, an architect by training, became South Tyrol’s first female winemaker in 1985 and launched her own terroir-focused label in 1988. The estate is now led by her daughters Julia and Karoline. Vigna Castel Ringberg, in Caldaro overlooking Lake Caldaro, is one of its two celebrated single vineyards, a dramatically sloping site of complex dolomite, glacial gravel and moraine soils beneath a Renaissance castle of 1620. This Riserva is the single-vineyard Lagrein from that site, a deeply coloured, concentrated and velvety expression of the variety native to Alto Adige.
