Kanonkop’s Paul Sauer is the estate’s flagship Bordeaux blend and the 2000 vintage shows the house style in a classic, long-lived form. The blend is built around Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the 2000 has the depth, structure and savoury complexity expected from one of South Africa’s benchmark red wines, rewarding those who have cellared with considerable patience.
Provenance
This lot comes from the late Harold Eedes, who served as Managing Director of Wine Magazine for nine years. A highly respected and much-loved figure in the South African wine industry, Harold assembled a thoughtful collection that includes a number of mature Bordeaux wines. The wines have been professionally stored under temperature-controlled conditions at Brice & Burnett since acquisition.
