About this Item

Margaux 2000
2 (1 x 2) 750ml
The 2000 Left Bank harvest is broadly regarded as one of the finest vintages of the last century, and Château Lascombes’s 2000 is considered the wine that announced a new era of quality at this historically underperforming Second Growth. Robert Parker awarded 90/100 and called it the first of a succession of brilliant wines to emerge from this previously moribund estate, describing a fully mature, medium-bodied Margaux of cedarwood, roasted herbs and black cherry elegance. Lascombes is one of the oldest classified estates in Margaux, its origins traceable to the seventeenth century when Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes gave his name to the property. After decades of underperformance under Bass Charrington’s ownership, the 2000 vintage marked the turning point under winemaker René Vanatelle, with Colony Capital’s acquisition in 2001 for 67 million dollars subsequently accelerating the estate’s full renaissance. The blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Critics Ratings

“The first of a succession of brilliant wines that have emerged from this previously moribund estate. Notes of cedarwood, roasted herbs, incense, black cherries and currants emerge from this medium-bodied, evolved Margaux.” - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Jun 2010)
