About this Item
Pomerol 2012
3 (1 x 3) 750ml
The 2012 vintage is widely regarded as one of Pomerol’s great surprises of the decade, producing wines of unexpected depth, freshness and concentration from a harvest that began under pressure and was rescued by a superb September. Château Gazin’s 2012 earned a remarkable 95/100 from both Neal Martin and Robert Parker independently, Parker describing it as sensational Pomerol and one of the great wines of the vintage, produced entirely from 100% Merlot. Neal Martin found it a top-drawer Pomerol with long-term ambitions, its harmony and precision belying the structure underneath. Gazin sits directly adjacent to Château Pétrus on 26 hectares of Gunzian gravel over blue and green clay, under the stewardship of Nicolas de Bailliencourt whose family has owned the estate since 1918. The vineyard is planted to 90% Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Critics Ratings
"A complex, quite mercurial bouquet offering raspberry coulis, wild strawberry, marmalade and minerals. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, beautifully balanced with a harmony all its own. Glides across the mouth, belying the structure underneath. Seriously good, a top-drawer Pomerol with long-term ambitions.” - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Oct 2016)
“Inky purple with a glorious nose of black fruits, an unctuous texture and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Sensational Pomerol and one of the great wines of this vintage. Produced from 100% Merlot, adjacent to Pétrus and across the road from Lafleur.” - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Apr 2015)
