About this Item

Pauillac 1998
1 (1 x1) 750ml
The 1998 Left Bank harvest produced wines of genuine structure and cedar-inflected depth across Pauillac, with the finest estates delivering classical, tobacco-framed Cabernet Sauvignon that has continued to reward patient cellaring. Château Duhart-Milon’s 1998 is described by Robert Parker as full of complex fruit and fine purity, with fruitcake, cedar, spice box and cassis on the nose and moderate sweet tannin on the palate. Duhart-Milon holds the distinction of being the only Fourth Growth in the Pauillac appellation, acquired by Baron Eric de Rothschild in 1962 when only 17 of its original 110 hectares remained planted following the 1956 frost, and rebuilt over four decades to its present 76 hectares. The estate is directed by the same technical team as neighbouring Château Lafite Rothschild. The blend for this vintage is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot.

Critics Ratings

“This dense ruby/purple-coloured blend has filled out nicely during its upbringing in wood. Fruitcake, cedar, spice box, plum, black raspberry and currant on the nose with excellent richness, moderate sweet tannin, fine purity and a complex style.” - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (Apr 2001)
