Notes
A turquoise-glazed stoneware figure depicting Guandi seated in formal posture, wearing a scholar’s cap and flowing robe, with the face left in biscuit. The figure rests on a rocky base and is mounted on a later carved wood stand. Guandi was venerated as a symbol of loyalty, righteousness and military virtue, and such figures were commonly used in household and temple shrines as protective and moral exemplars.
