About this Item
A Celadon lamp base, in Ming celadon style, 1736-1795
height: 32cm; diameter: 19cm
Notes
A celadon glazed porcelain vase, baluster form, now adapted as a lamp base. The body is decorated in low relief with lotus and peony scrolls. Applied loop handles reference archaic bronze forms revived in the 18th century under the Qianlong emperor’s antiquarian influence. The soft celadon glaze shows gentle pooling, reflecting the continued influence of Longquan-type wares in Ming ceramics.
Provenance
Private Collection.
