the shaped top-rail centred by cresting gable above a pierced vertical splat, caned drop-in seat, on square-section tapering legs joined by an H-shaped stretcher

Notes
The split-splat chair had many variations determined by the number of slats in the panel of the back splat. The standard is four slats with three gaps, this example has five slats and four gaps.
