Notes
The weaving traditions of the Basotho people are rooted in the rural mountain communities of Lesotho.
Historically, woven items were produced for domestic use, using skills passed down through generations and locally available fibres such as wool and mohair from sheep and Angora goat, animals well suited to Lesotho's high-altitude climate.
Contemporary weavers create decorative pieces in bold geometric motifs combining craftmanship with strong cultural symbolism and storytelling.
