Translating lineages of craft and texture, this contemporary light fitting draws inspiration from the Xibelani, a traditional skirt worn by Xitsonga women.
It was named the 'Most Beautiful Object' in South Africa in 2018 and has been acquired by the Louvre in Paris for their permanent collection.
Mash. T Design Studio is a contemporary South African design studio founded by designer Thabisa Mjo. The studio is known for collectable lighting and furniture that combine indigenous craft traditions with contemporary forms. They work extensively with local artisans and craft communities, often incorporating beadwork and weaving.
