Notes
"I have done a lot of sketches, which perhaps we should include in the reference figure studies, of kind of totem-like figures that form patterns. Basically it’s a free forging thing, where I start to recognize figures or expressive bodies emerging out of the form and then intuitively work with the material to bring out an expression, and the way that the one form and sculpture relates to the others. It is also an intuitive sculpture after a sketch, but created while I’m working, so it’s a direct expressive work. Forged in bronze, also part of a series."- Conrad HicksMore from South African Design: Past & Present
