Notes

Alastair Barnes crafts his exquisite bird sculptures in his garden workshop in Greyton, joined by his dogs and an array of classic Land Rovers. Drawing on a lifelong fascination with birds, from nest-finding expeditions and a celebrated egg collection to mastering bird calls, his designs reflect deep, informed observation of the wild. Each bird is personally finished by Alastair in the foundry, where he applies a distinctive patination that gives every piece its own character and makes them highly prized by collectors. He views birds as universal ambassadors, perfectly suited to a blend of realism, expressionism, and impressionism, a belief that imbues his work with both emotional depth and artistic versatility .

Provenance

The Mary Eleanor Hibbert collection.
