Notes
These armchairs are executed in the Egyptian Revival taste, a style that gained prominence in Europe following Napoleon's campaign in Egypt and enjoyed periodic revivals throughout the 19th century.
The most striking feature, the carved arm supports in the form of stylised Egyptian heads, recalls ancient pharaonic iconography and reflects the 19th century fascination with antiquity.
