'Released for the first time as a Swartland Syrah, with fruit taken from the Goldmine and Porseleinberg vineyards, this sees 10% whole bunches and is a remarkable wine: plush and rich, with notes of roasted meat, lavender and incense, dense colour tannins and a twist of pepper spice. Drink 2019-27.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 96/100
'Violet & lavender perfume on 2015, first entirely off 2 Swartland vineyards (2014 (4.5 stars, 94 pts) some ex Wellington). Brooding dark cherry & hedgerow fruit, leather & smoke; good grip of tannin on lengthy finish. 18 months mostly larger oak, none new; natural ferment & portion whole bunch.' - Platter's Guide 2018, 5* (95/100)
'The 2015 vintage is the first time that the Syrah from Boekenhoutskloof is certified as being from the Swartland. The nose is very fragrant with notes of black berries, olive, lavender, white pepper and just a hint of reduction. The palate is rich and broad and very well balanced - dense fruit and fine tannins before a long and savoury finish. Pretty damn sexy.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100 (Sep 2017)
