'The Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet has been sourced from the same vineyard since 1996 and is made in a deliberately austere style. Think St Estèphe, if you like Bordeaux. 'While recent vintages of Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon from Boekenhoutskloof seemed made in a fashion rather too eager to please, which is to say with plenty of ripe fruit to the fore and soft tannins, the 2015 is a return to form. The nose is particularly fragrant with notes of violets and fresh herbs before cassis, oak spice and some earthiness.
