‘There is no Seagdragon bottling in 2019, alas, so this superb Windansea will have to satisfy fans of the Newton Johnsons' top Pinot Noirs. And what a wine it is! Lighter and more red-fruited than it usually is - it can be a bit dense in its youth - this is silky and fragrant with aromas of green malt, peat and red berries, tangy acidity and sinewy, savoury tannins supported by 33% new oak. 2022-29’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 97/100
'Wind in high-lying vineyard gives thicker skins, shallow denser clay imparts more compact, muscular structure than other pinots. 2019 seamed with minerality, earthiness & the morello cherry, brambleberry oak-fragrant perfume of 2018 (4.5 stars, 94 pts). Quiet & contained, impressive tannin & acid backbone for the long haul.' – Platter's SA Wine Guide, 5* (96/100)
