About this Item
6 x 750ml bottles of the Jordan 2011 CWG Sophia
This exclusive lot features six bottles of the Jordan CWG Sophia 2011, a Bordeaux-style blend crafted by Gary Jordan for the 2014 Cape Winemakers Guild Auction. Now beautifully matured, this wine marks the 11th vintage of the iconic Sophia—named after the legendary mother of Faith, Hope, and Charity, and symbolising the harmony of its three noble components: 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 22% Cabernet Franc.
Elegantly evolved and entering its prime drinking window, the 2011 Sophia offers an intricate bouquet of dark chocolate, black cherry, cassis, and blackberry fruit, layered with vanilla and spice from finely integrated French oak. With over a decade of bottle age, the wine has developed complex tertiary notes of leather, dried fruit, and silky, well-resolved tannins.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a library vintage of one of South Africa’s most refined and age-worthy CWG red blends—perfect for collectors and Bordeaux-style aficionados alike. While drinking beautifully now, it will continue to reward careful cellaring for several years to come.
