Flavio Poli was one of the most important and innovative glass designers associated with Murano in the mid-20th century. He is especially known for his work with Seguso Vetri d'arte where he helped define the style of sommerso art glass.

Sommerso meaning submerged in Italian, was a technique where layers of different colour glass were encased in clear crystal.
