'This remarkable site has established itself as one of the world's great Syrah vineyards in less than a decade. Sourced from four blocks totally 4.5 hectares, Callie Louw's stunning red is just short of perfection this year, but is still brilliant, confirming the evolution in style of the Jamet-inspired 2018. Leafy, spicy, rose petal aromas are supported by pure red berry fruit, detailed tannins and the faintest hint of oak. 2022-32' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2021, 99/100
'Dark opaque black plum colour with a more translucent ruby rim. Slightly subdued aromatics with earthy, sappy notes of black plum, black berry and savoury raw meat nuances. Soft and supple on the palate, there is plenty of green herby spice, green peppercorns, coriander and sweet leaf with fine grained mineral tannins, ample grip but a slightly shorter finish. Leave this one in your cellar for now.' - Greg Sherwood MW, Winemag.co.za, 95+/100
has a peppery and spicy bouquet: bouquet garni, cracked black pepper and a touch of fennel. It's an absolute doppelgänger for a Côte-Rôtie. The palate is medium-bodied and broad-shouldered due perhaps to slightly higher residual sugar, with layers of black fruit laced with white pepper and clove, segueing into a more savory finish with touches of meat juice. There is captivating precision here, a brilliant Porseleinberg. 2029-2054' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 95/100 (Jun 2023)
'A brilliant and shining star, the 2019 Syrah bursts with savory herbs, red florals and spiced red fruit tones. Medium to full-bodied, the palate shows an umami character with impressive mineral tension, succulent acidity and balanced tannins before concluding with a long, seductive and spicy finish. The wine continues to reveal its secrets with the persistent lingering aftertaste. 24,000 bottles were made from 100% whole-cluster Syrah.' - Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, 95+/100 (Dec 2022)
