About this Item
2009 The Journeyman
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
- Arguably one of SA's rarest wines, The Journeyman is the pinnacle of Marc Kent's winemaking vision and one of SA's true cult wines. Made only in exceptional vintages, the 2005 was the first maiden release and sold out in a flash.
- Usually Cabernet Franc led, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It was named after Marc Kent's cockney grandfather, who was described as 'The Journeyman' on his father's birth certificate, this wine is a personal expression that celebrates the unique and the individual.
- 'Over time, Boekenhoutskloof has established that Cabernet Franc is the cultivar best suited to the terroir of our property in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley, with three top-performing blocks having been planted in 1994 and 1995. The remainder of the grapes comes from a 23-year old Merlot block, also on Boekenhoutskloof'. - Winemaker

Critics Ratings
'The nose very left bank Bordeaux. Classic notes of old leather, shoe polish, black liquorice with the brooding and dense fruit core leading to a massive thick charcoal coated tannin structure of huge power and long full impact. Still powerful this is a wine of immense power and intensity.' - James Pietersen, 94/100
