About this Item
Boekenhoutskloof, located in the Franschhoek valley, was established in 1776 and gets its name 'Boekenhout' from an indigenous Beech tree. Boekenhoutskloof, managed by Marc Kent, describes themself as a Syrah specialist. Their efforts in conservation can be seen through initiatives they have taken-on in their farm and surrounding areas. They are also a founding member of the Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy.
The Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet is similarly revered as the Syrah as one of the top expressions from the Cape, both wines selling out annually on release. The success of this Franschhoek Cabernet has led to the introduction of a twin label in 2014 with fruit sourced from Stellenbosch.

‘Light ruby centre with a garnet rim. Classic Cabernet, boasting an array of cassis, cedar wood, pencil lead and sweet bell peppers. At the ideal 20 year mark, this wine is offering tons of pleasure and lots of life and elegance. The tannins are mature, but still offers the finest of grips to the finish’. – Higgo Jacobs 2020, 95/100
‘The medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is restrained when compared to the more expressive 1999 (rated 91 in Issue #140). That being said, this pencil lead and cassis-scented offering wows the taster with its impressive depth of fruit, purity, and refinement. Loads of sweet black currants and blackberries are intermingled with toasted oak in this outstanding wine's character. This noteworthy value is medium-bodied, satin-textured, deep, complex, and exhibits a long, fruit-filled, lush finish.' - Wine Advocate – 91/100
