Notes

Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Maurice Mbikayi lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. First graduating in Advertising and Visual Communication, from the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa, Mbikayi then completed his Master of Fine Arts degree (with distinction) in 2015 at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town. Mbikayi has been featured in exhibitions at important institutions, including, Middelheim Museum in Antwerp; Kunsthalle Tübingen Stiftung, Germany; the World Bank in Washington DC, USA; the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts of Michigan, USA; the South African National Gallery, Cape Town; Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art, Cape Town; the Kunsthaus Graz Museum, Austria; Wits Art Museum, Johannesburg, Kër Thiossane, Dakar, and ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany.
