Situated on the scenic slopes of the Helderberg mountain, Rust en Vrede is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest estates, dating back to 1694 and is today owned by Jean Engelbrecht. The fine Helderberg terroir produces concentrated and highly celebrated reds.

2001 was a stellar vintage under winemaker Louis Strydom and for the fourth consecutive year, Rust en Vrede made the Top 100 Wines of the World list compiled by US publication Wine Spectator.

‘Benefits of good vintage, increased clean vine material evident in 01. Compact, austere yet with ripeness in body (14% alc); supple fruit, in usual understated mode. 14% alc. 15 months new French oak.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2005
