About this Item
Poderi Aldo Conterno is a Piedmont producer known for its wines from the best parcels of the Bussia vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. Aldo Conterno, who died in 2012, was regarded by many as the greatest of all Barolo winemakers. The business was founded in 1969 when Aldo bought the Favot estate with its Bussia holdings. For the previous eight years, he had managed Giacomo Conterno with his brother, but left to make wines in a less resolutely traditionalist environment. The estate is now run by his three sons.

Critics Ratings
‘Mid ruby with orange rim. Cool red fruit and hints of oak. A pretty whole. Sweet, fragrant fruit on the palate, which doesn't last perhaps extremely long, but it is certainly a pretty wine. The finish seems just a little dry.’ - Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Sep 2012)
‘The 2005 Barolo Riserva Granbussia represents a selection of fruit from the oldest vines. This is an elegant and pure expression of Nebbiolo that shows a dark ruby hue and deeply finessed aromas of wild berry, wet earth, iron, black truffle and some sweet baking spice. This is an elegant and synthetic interpretation of the greater Bussia cru that extends down the crest of a long hill from Monteforte d'Alba to Barolo. The finish is elegant, silky and fine.’ - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Jun 2017)
