Critics Ratings

Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken Rausch Riesling Grosses Gewachs 2009
‘A delicate notion of peaches on the nose is followed by a subtle flavour of crunchy apples. The acidity is quite rasping. Altogether a gentle and filigree wine with a light but long finish.’ - Michael Schmidt, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Sep 2010)

Grans-Fassian Riesling Auslese 2005
‘A fabulous bouquet of honeyed slate, green apples and limes is followed by flavors that are sweet yet balanced, with great freshness and racy acidity. Finishes long and mouthwatering. Not only about power, there's also elegance to spare.’ - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Dec 2006)

Joh Jos Prum Riesling Auslese 2005
‘The fruit flavors of green apple, pineapple and lime are underscored by slate-driven minerality, and the wine, although plump and amply endowed, is well balanced, with superb posture provided by sinewy acids. Surprisingly approachable now, but could last as long as 50 years.’ - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, 95/100 (Jun 2007)

‘Smells much more of the soil than the Graacher Himmelreich Auslese 2005; firmer, chalky, cool wet stones. Leafy. On the palate it has more density and the acidity seems more pronounced – the sweetness too. Oranges, spices, deep and quite unctuous. Altogether a more demanding, powerful wine – the baritone to the Himmelreich soprano? Seems more evolved as well. A wine that commands attention.’ - Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (May 2013)

Joh Jos Prum Graacher Himmelreich Auslese 2005
‘Plenty of petillance, pale lemon gold. A gentle nose, white blossom (hawthorn), talcum powder. Minerality in its most fingertip-delicate expression. Delicate on the palate as well. Essence of white peach. Nectarines. Terribly terribly pretty. Dances with the lightest of point on the tongue. Exquisite balance. Really persistent, floral, and with a depth of flavour that takes my breath away. Every time I taste it there is something else. Stunning.’ - Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, 18.5/20 (May 2013)

‘Strongly marked by rather stinky aromas at first, this wine reveals its full majesty on the palate, where it's lush and round without being soft, filled with baked apple, vanilla, honey and spice notes balanced by ripe acidity. Layered and long on the finish, where it reveals more complexity with every sip. Give it a vigorous decanting if you open a bottle now, or wait 10–20 years, maybe longer.’ - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Oct 2007)

Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Auslese 2005
‘Aromas of apricot, pear nectar and nutmeg lead to an elegant, delicate palate – despite the wines enormous ripeness and richness – incorporating lightly cooked and subtly caramelized apricot and pear, brown spices, and a rich, almost chocolaty undertone. A generous, quite sweet and faintly bitter finish reprises the wine’s principal themes.’ - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Oct 2006)
